Where Worry Grows

"Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" - 1 Peter 5:7

Worry has a way of growing in the quiet places. It does not always shout. Sometimes it whispers. A passing thought. A what-if. A small feeling in the pit of your stomach that builds until you cannot sleep at night. Worry creeps in like a weed, and if you do not deal with it, it will take over everything.

It started back in the garden. Adam and Eve heard the sound of God, and they hid. That was not fear of a wild animal or a natural disaster. That was the fear of being exposed. Worry showed up the moment they knew something had gone wrong. That is where worry grows best. In the places where sin has been left undealt with.

Now hear me on this. Not all worry is a sin. But all of it does point us back to something broken. Something out of our control. Something we were never meant to carry on our own. Sometimes it is a situation. Sometimes it is a belief we have carried around for far too long. But if we want to kill the worry, we have to go deeper than the surface.

Have you ever noticed how much we try to manage our worry instead of uproot it? We try to distract ourselves. We numb it with busyness or entertainment. We bottle it up and keep pretending we are fine. But God never told us to carry our worries. He told us to cast them. Throw them. Hand them off to Him because He actually cares. Not just about your Sunday morning version of life. About the real parts. The hard parts.

The reason worry keeps showing up in your life might not be because you are weak. It might be because you have not brought the root of it to the only One who can do anything about it. If the root of worry is tangled up in something deeper, surface solutions will never fix it.

So instead of hiding today, ask God to search your heart. Ask Him to dig out the root. You might be surprised how much lighter life feels when you finally let Him carry what you were never meant to hold.
