A Little Can Bless a Lot

“They said to him, ‘We have only five loaves here and two fish.’” – Matthew 14:17

When we hear the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand, our attention usually lands on the miracle itself. We marvel at how so little became so much. We talk about Jesus’ compassion or the disciples’ doubts. But today, let’s zoom in on someone else. Someone easy to miss in the crowd. A boy.

He was just one among thousands. But he had something. It wasn’t much, just a few loaves and a couple of fish. Yet when he brought what he had, God did something extraordinary. That little offering fed a multitude. The boy’s name isn’t recorded. He doesn’t say a word. But his decision to bring what he had made a difference that’s still being talked about two thousand years later.

This story reminds us that blessing others doesn’t require a platform, a title, or a lot of resources. You just have to be willing to bring what you’ve got. Maybe that’s your time. Maybe it’s a skill you’ve kept to yourself. Maybe it’s a simple text or phone call you’ve been meaning to send. It might not feel like much. But in the hands of Jesus, it’s more than enough.

What’s easy to overlook is that the disciples had no plan. They were overwhelmed, frustrated, and focused on what they didn’t have. But that boy didn’t get stuck in the shortage. He simply offered what he had. No fanfare. No excuses. Just faith.

So here’s the challenge. Stop waiting until you have more. Stop assuming what you have isn’t enough. If you want to bless others, bring it. Bring your little and trust God to do something big with it. That’s how needs get met. That’s how lives get changed. And that’s how you can be part of a miracle.
