Sent but Still Sitting
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” – John 20:21
Most of us have no problem going when someone sends us. If your spouse sends you to grab milk, you go. If your boss sends you to a meeting, you show up. If your kids send you for a late-night snack run, you’re in the car before they finish the sentence. When people we care about or respect ask us to do something, we respond.
But what about when Jesus sends us?
Scripture is clear that we are not just saved, we are sent. We’ve been given a mission. We’ve been called to carry the name of Jesus into our world, to share His love, and to proclaim His truth. The problem is not that we don’t know this. The problem is that many of us just don’t do it.
The enemy has no issue with you reading your Bible if it never moves you to obedience. He does not care how many sermons you listen to or how many songs you sing if it never results in you stepping out in faith. He’s not worried about your devotion time if it never turns into action time.
We’re not just called to soak up the Word. We’re called to live it out. And part of that means opening our mouths, sharing the hope of Jesus, and stepping into the lives of people around us.
The hard truth is that many believers have heard the command to go, but they’re still sitting. Not because they don’t care. Not because they don’t believe. But maybe because they’ve grown comfortable. Or afraid. Or distracted.
If your Savior has sent you, then what are you waiting for? You were never meant to sit on what God has poured into you. You were meant to carry it. To share it. To speak it. To go. So go! You will never regret direct obedience to your Heavenly Father.
