Know Him to Show Him

"But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and respect." - 1 Peter 3:15

You do not need a seminary degree to share Jesus, but you do need to know Him. That is the heartbeat behind today’s message. If someone asked you to explain quantum physics, you would probably freeze. Not because you are not smart, but because it is not familiar to you.
Now, if someone asked about your family, your job, or your favorite hobby, you could probably talk with ease and even excitement. Why? Because those things are part of your everyday life.

It works the same way with our faith. Michael Frost says that we must know Jesus if we are going to share Him as the reason for our hope. And he is right. You can only share what you know. And the more you know, the more confidently and naturally you can speak.

Some believers avoid conversations about Jesus not because they are ashamed but because they feel unprepared. They believe in Him, they love Him, but they have not spent the time learning about Him. Imagine trying to introduce your best friend to someone, but you do not know much about them. That would be awkward. But when you truly know Jesus—His heart, His words, His power, and His grace—you will not need to force the conversation. It will come up naturally, because He will be that real to you.

This is why your time in the Bible matters. This is why it helps to sit under solid teaching, engage in small groups, and ask hard questions. It is not about earning points with God. It is about preparing to live and speak with boldness and clarity when people wonder what it is that gives you peace, joy, or endurance in the middle of hardship.

You do not have to have all the answers. But the more you pursue Jesus, the more of Him you will see, and the more you will have to share. Know Him well, because when the world asks where your hope comes from, you will have something real to say.
